A peaceful and centrally located cottage in the old market square of Tideswell, one of the most charming and characterful villages in the Peak District National Park. Known as the ‘Cathedral of the Peak’, Tideswell is ideally situated between Bakewell and Buxton, making it the perfect base for exploring the stunning Derbyshire countryside.

The Snug is perfectly positioned to enjoy everything the village has to offer, with traditional pubs, independent shops, coffee houses, and restaurants all just a short stroll away.


Inside, the cosy and tastefully decorated interiors make you feel at home the moment you step through the door. Set in one of the most beautiful areas of the Peak District, there are countless walking routes, cycling trails, and local attractions to explore - including the famous Monsal Trail, Chatsworth House, and the Caverns of Castleton - all within easy reach.


Tideswell is a wonderful year-round destination, with lively summer festivals, local markets, and festive celebrations throughout winter. We love to make the cottage feel extra special in the run-up to Christmas with seasonal decorations.


The Snug is ideal for couples seeking a romantic break, or for friends wanting to unwind and enjoy the beauty of the Peaks together.

  • What amenities are included at The Snug Tideswell?

    The Snug features two comfortable double bedrooms, each with a king-sized bed dressed in hotel-quality linen and pillows for a luxurious night’s sleep. There’s ample space for hanging clothes, and each room includes a hairdryer for your convenience.


    The bathroom has a shower over a generously sized bath, ideal for relaxing after a day exploring the Peaks. You’ll find complimentary toiletries and luxuriously soft towels provided for your stay.


    Downstairs, the cosy living room offers two comfortable two-seater sofas and a log burner for those cooler evenings. The cottage also benefits from gas central heating, ensuring it’s always warm and welcoming. The living area includes a Smart TV with Freeview, plus access to Netflix and other streaming platforms. For quieter moments, there are board games, books, and a selection of local attraction leaflets to help plan your adventures.


    The kitchen-diner is fully equipped with everything you might need, including a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, oven, and grill. We also provide tea towels, dishwasher tablets, and washing tablets for your use.


    Outside, you’ll find a small seating area with a BBQ, partially covered to offer shade in summer or shelter on rainy days.


    For cyclists, secure bike storage is available on the rear decking. And if you’re bringing your four-legged friends, they’ll be well looked after too — we provide dog bowls, a blanket, and a towel for muddy paws.


  • How far is The Snug from the attractions in the Peak District?

    Tideswell Is a large village nestled in the heart of the Peak district.It is a fantastic base to stay, not only is it in the Peak district National Park but its also close to so many attractions, walks and other towns and villages such as Bakewell & Buxton.

  • Is parking available at The Snug?

    There is usually plenty of parking in Market Square but if this is full there is on street parking close by.

  • What is the check-in and check-out time?

    So that you can enjoy a lie in on your last morning, check out is later than many other nearby properties at 11am.  Check in is at 3pm

    Yes, The Snug is both dog and  family-friendly. There is outside space and set in the middle of The Peak District there are plenty of walks.
